And then they lose the northern seats again and you continue the cycle. I’m afraid Southern, middle class Labour supporters are going to have to get their head around the fact that that ship has sailed or the Tories get back in.
I can’t see Labour agreeing to that. Much better to win the seats back from the SNP. Scotland is split on independence, despite what the SNP would have us believe. Labour needs those seats back as much as it needs the north of England. Labour is also much more of a threat to the SNP than the...
Yes, that as well. Without the unique selling point on Europe and with sane leadership of Labour the Tories are back to where they were a decade or more ago.
I really don’t think so. The Liberals still irrelevant. Labour without its 2019 vote losers (Corbyn and its EU policy) will, in my opinion, walk it. There is now no reason for the northern red wall to vote blue.
Corbyn did get very close to being PM though thanks to those entryists into the Labour Party. I agree that the same applies to the Tories. It does seem bizarre that political activists get to choose the leaders when most people have no interest in political activism. It’s even worse when that...
No problem. I guess I thought with the departure of Boris a new era of mature political debate might break out. I guess the truth is that Emily and your good self just love the new era of Trumpian politics too much.
Not at all. I have reported a number of posts over the years for racism and sexism. I have also overtly condemned those attitudes. Perhaps you are seeing what you want to see ?
Wow, politics in this country just gets worse and worse. I seem to remember Emily Thornbury as the one who condemned a household and whole town because of a flag they were flying. She fits in perfectly with the new way of conducting politics.
Yeah, fair enough. I’m sure it will rear its head in the future though, at which point we can resume our debate on whether or not her blackness might be a dealbreaker for Britain First and friends
Definitely not. Truss is quite pale which should increase her vote significantly over average women. Hang on though, I forgot, she’s a woman. They definitely won’t vote for her.
I am questioning why she got the endorsement in the first place. I am also pointing out that illiberal views on other subjects may well come with the territory of migration from illiberal parts of the world. The old comfort zones of tolerant, white, western society do not necessarily apply in...
Yes, I have. Don’t like it much. Best to steer clear of inflammatory language towards people based on the colour of their skin. I am going to continue to take a view of her abilities as a politician based purely on her abilities as a politician.
Fair enough, but they are pretty common views in Africa. She has Nigerian parents and was partly brought up in Lagos. I just think it unusual that a British white supremicist group would be endorsing someone of her colour and background for those reasons. I just think it odd.
