When the Angels Come Calling by Tony Cooper. I'm older than Tony and I had 1 job, 1 wife and owned 3 homes in my life. Fair to say he blasted all those numbers out the water and I'm only on page 253 :lolol:
P.S. Just worked out I've had 15 cars. Bet he's had more than twice that number!
The One Hundred Year Old Man Who Climbed Out Of A Window And Disappeared by Jonas Jonasson.
70 odd pages in, it's all a bit Richard Osman, but rather darker and occasionally laugh out loud.
Just finished this interminable book. Don't waste your time or money or Audible time on it. I enjoyed Jo Nesbo's last full book, but this is like a cluster of dreary half baked ideas that he's top and tailed into short stories and pulled in to a collection. Thank goodness I've finished it and...
I'm just reading The Jealousy Man by Jo Nesbo. My word, it's a tough read! It's a collection of short stories in the style of Tales of the Unexpected. So much so, I would swear I saw at least one of them int the Roald Dahl series on TV. The title story is interminable and I couldn't finish it. I...
Two years ago, I received The Christmas Chronicles by Nigel Slater for Christmas. Beautifully bound with a matching ribbon bookmark, it's a winter treat. He describes it as the story of his love for winter with it's scents and traditions mixed with recipes, fables and quick fireside suppers from...
Peter James - The Secret of Cold Hill. Almost seems to read in real time. Unputdownable for 80 or 90 pages, a bit frustrating where I am now, but hoping for another 100 odd unputdownable pages runout to the end.
Half way through. An enjoyable and witty read with tiny local references. So good that Spielberg has picked up the film rights. No need to be embarrassed about reading it.
Two Thousand Games by Brian Horton
A very odd book. Whole chapters contributed by others like Mullery and Lawro and a truly crap ghostwriter on Nobby's behalf. Reads a bit like he's been given Brian's notebook of memories and tried to flesh out the words in to sentences and sentences in to...
White Bicycles:Making Music in the 60's by Joe Boyd.
It's a cracking read although I guess you need to be of a certain age and have an interest in music.
