Politically blue - footballing red - Saints fan. His mother‘s former pharmacy is just round the corner from where my recently deceased uncle lived in Southampton - very good it is too, apparently, not that she owns it any more.
Mrs DiS just showed me a clip from LBC this morning - Nick Ferrari, who is not known for his woke tendencies (far from it) - terminating an interview with the minister for illegal immigration after asking him 6 or 7 times “but was it islamophobic” and each time getting the stock reply: “Nick, it...
Tobias Elwood on Peston last night said that Lee Anderson is explicitly racist, while the Transport Secretary Mark Harper just persisted in saying he was “wrong”.
it seems clear that the word from Conservative Central Office is that he was “wrong” rather than racist. Pathetic.
Common sense is different things to different people. I did an MBA many years ago and it quoted an example of a nuclear physicist and the people who do the cleaning in his offices/laboratory - both being totally incapable of doing the other’s job.
Well it’s the age old question trotted out time after time: “would you trust Labour with the economy?”
personally I think Rachel Reeves would run rings around Jeremy Hunt. She is a competent economist……. Not saying Jeremy Hunt isn’t.
Mrs DiS and I were talking about this stuff last night, and considered that someone ought just to call it all out at some point - this is rubbish, this is fiction. Then, lo and behold, Victoria Derbyshire does exactly that.
more of this sort of thing….
Has any particular sector made ridiculously over the top profits recently that perhaps be taxed?
could any incoming ruling party perhaps not waste quite as much money on hare-brained schemes to create jobs for mates which ultimately don’t work - remember track and trace!
might we find that using...
With you just about all the way there.
having worked for a church-based organisation and venturing from that in to inter-faith matters, it is normally a joy to work with serious people from other faiths - the guiding principle normally being that you respect people’s different beliefs, which...
I saw that yesterday, and then Mrs DiS this morning said that the speech had actually been approved by Downing Street.
this, to me, seems like Fascism - quoting statistics that are not accurate and hang the consequences.
I don’t take the word “evil” lightly, but she is.
and hypocritical to the nth degree - as you say the daughter of economic migrants.
how does she define the multi-cultural is that doesn’t work, when she herself is operating at the highest level in government (unfortunately) and she is married to...
You can’t prioritise something if you haven’t got the budget to do it.
both Gove years ago and Sunak as Chancellor cut or completely wiped out budgets/ plans to try and address this.
or do you just get rid of all the teachers just to make sure the buildings are ok?
Wasn’t aware of any of that.
mrs DiS and I were both disgusted when we read about Jenrick’s painting over order. This makes it all the more so. An appalling man with a TOTAL lack of humanity.
It seems more obvious than ever from these elections that there are places where Lib Dem’s are the major opponent of the Tories - Bracknell for example - and others where it’s Labour. would that be enough to make Labour the biggest party, and capable of forming a government with bigger LibDem...
In my experience where I am, Liberal Democrats can be and are every bit as radical as anyone else. I couldn’t ever see my constituency - Winchester - going Labour, but it has in the past been strongly Liberal. And a lot of moderate but traditional Tories locally will be enormously uncomfortable...
Disgusting is a word we use more and more in this household about this government and its doings, particularly about immigration matters, but not exclusively……
