I saw some TV news footage of the Red Square 9th May parade. Thousands upon thousands of soldiers lined up and not a single non-white face (that I saw). I'm not saying for a moment that Western countries haven't got more to do and further to go in all manner of areas - but it was quite striking...
For some reason, I quite like the quaintness of this still happening everyday.
"Vlad, you old slag. It's POTUS. How's Lyudmila? She left you yet? (Oh yeah - she has left him. I forgot about that)."
Regarding the above post; I'm not sure if this is the thread for it, so I may move it to another thread in time if it derails this one. This thread is specifically focused on the Russian invasion of Ukraine and the above has real potential to take this thread into the familiar rabbit hole of UK...
Ukrainian troops have found Dress Uniforms in captured and destroyed Russian military vehicles outside Kiyv, seemingly in preparation for their victory parade into the capital.
The Russian military equivalent of the classic “Please stay of the pitch at the final whistle so Sam and the lads can...
Having 100'000 troops living in Field conditions for three months through the winter prior to the invasion in late February was hardly a tactical masterstroke either and would have degraded their condition and morale.
So here we have a dictator who purges all opposition, sends assassins into other countries to murder dissidents, has invaded a peaceful sovereign country to seize their territory and install a puppet regime, has sanctioned the slaughter of thousands of innocent civilians and destroyed the homes...
“What news of my Special Military Operation today, Comrade Bollockov?”
“Well, good news and bad news Comrade Putin.”
“What’s the good news?”
“After 3 weeks of having their arses handed to them, the 37th Motor Rifles brigade have finally received fresh supplies of vehicle fuel.”
“So what’s...
I see Russian state media have now re-framed Putin’s publicly stated ambitions for this Special Military Operation.
Seemingly, it was never their intention to seize the whole of Ukraine after all and after 4 weeks of battle with 150’000 troops, the 4 vegetable allotments and a 3G football pitch...
What have they done? Drafted Southern Rail management in to run it?
“Sergei - what the **** is going on? I need to get this ammunition to the front line.”
“No idea, comrade. Up until last week there were 4 trains an hour on this line. Now? **** all, plus nobody seems to know what’s going on.”
The expectation that Ukrainian resistance would be minimal can be seen in Russia’s early moves. Scott Boston, senior defence analyst at Rand Corporation, said an invading army would only rush into a city if it believed surrender was imminent and the priority was confiscating weapons from...
Just in case you missed it, there's been a bit of a re-set on how we try to engage with each other on here. It isn't always perfect, but it seems to be good deal better than it was. You'll need to moderate your style a bit if you want to retain your ability to contribute to this thread. Thanks.
If this does have some basis in truth, someone better tell all those Russian troops who've abandoned their 40-mile convoy and ****ed off to Centre Parcs Kyiv until it's all over.
