What do the club look for, perhaps as core skills that are really non negotiable and common to all? Bearing in mind there’s a plethora of other positions at most clubs these days that negate the need for some from yesteryear now?

Anyone with any real insight into, or read a good article about?

Exotic sounding names seem to be a key part in recruitment,we didn't just pick Graham Potter for his diplomas and badge kissing.

There's the obvious stuff about knowing about football tactics and being able to tell which players are better than others etc

But I think there is also something less obvious about having the skill to create a narrative about yourself that people and the media buy into. De Zerbi has this kind of mystique, maybe nearly as much as Bielsa. What it does is helps lure and keep players and just as importantly keeps people off your back for a bit more time when things are going south.

I think this in part explains the number of exotic foreign managers

In one podcast or interview (can't recall which) after De Zerbi was hired, Barber said about the importance of having worked in different countries/ leagues. (And then some very Brighton specific things such as punching above their weight in terms of budget to results and the ability to bring on young players, which some elite coaches would struggle with).
