Rotherham have secured the services of Richie Barker for the next three seasons.

The front man signed a two-year extension to his contract and declared himself happy to have done so.

He told the Millers' official website: "I am delighted to have agreed the new deal.

"I am very happy here at Rotherham, which is my home town. I am well settled and my wife is happy here, so it's good news all round.

"I felt I had quite a good season last year and not so long ago I wouldn't have dreamed of playing for two seasons in Division One.

"I know the competition for the strikers' places will be tough again next season but I will give my best again."

Good luck to him.

I wonder what would have happened if he'd stayed with us. I guess a Barker/Hart partnership up front and never a need to go searching around Bristol Rovers reserves.

We probably owe at least one promotion to his decision to return north to his family. And BZ owes him big time as well.
