Russians confirm the warship has now sunk.

“ A Russian warship that was damaged by an explosion on Wednesday has sunk, Russia's defence ministry has said.
Moskva, the flagship of Russia's Black Sea fleet, was being towed to port when "stormy seas" caused it to sink, according to a ministry message.
The 510-crew vessel was a symbol of Russia's military power, and has led Russia's naval assault on Ukraine.
Kyiv claims it struck the warship with its missiles, but Moscow has made no mention of an attack.
Late on Thursday, however, Russian state media broke the news that the ship had been lost.
"While being towed ... towards the destined port, the vessel lost its balance due to damage sustained in the hull as fire broke out after ammunition exploded. Given the choppy seas, the vessel sank," state news agency Tass quoted the ministry as saying.
Earlier, Russia had said there was a fire on board after ammunition exploded.”

They can say what the f they like. It doesn't matter. This is a disaster for Russia. A complete humiliation for Putin and a shot in the army for the heroic Ukranian defenders

Long term the ship is irreplaceable. Even if they could afford the rubles for military kit like this, they would never get the parts and the international cooperation needed for such a complex project. Russian military capability has just taken a permanent turn for the worse

Putin should cut his losses - his military is being decimated.

The more it is decimated, the more the world realises that it wasn't all that anyway. His flagship of the Black Sea fleet, was 40 years old.

Moskva has sunk to the bottom of the sea it was the flagship of. It's hugely symbolic.

In terms of prestige being lost, this is probably the most humiliating sinking since the Bismarck

True, true...(well, many Russian people are actually decent and just want to live their lives as do Ukrainians)... true, if only their bullying ******* regime didn't have nuclear, chemical and biological weapons.

Those pesky choppy seas eh? Perhaps some of NSC's ex-matelots can explain how Royal Navy Vessels cope with such horrific conditions? :lolol:

Even the Kremlin lies about what happened here are a positive to me.

The more wildly implausible statements they make the more the nagging doubts will increase in his population

I am amazed with modern technology that there have been no photos of the ship being hit, on fire or sinking? All I see online is library photos of the ship and fakes. Not doubting it but seems odd?

The Black Sea eh? One third of the size of the Med, was it built never to see the Atlantic?

Yes, I thought that. Again, not doubting it but as you say, surprised there’s no footage. Though I don’t go looking for it, or would know where to look.
