Thanks- fascinating. I’ve seen the tunnel exit in the Freshfield industrial park and would love to have seen the railway fully operational
I was lucky enough to travel on that line.
In 1971 there was a day with trains running from Brighton to Kemptown, my father was a train driver and took me on one of the trains, I wasn’t very old but I do remember he knew the driver and we were in the cab with him.

I’ve just found this link about the day.

Remember my mates family lived in one of those houses. Up by the white van was a little path went through the scrub to what we called the bomb crater, nit sure if it really was or just us kids thinking it was. We used it as an occasional den and a place for a quick cigarette.

At least they didn't cover the wonderful Brickwoods tiles, poss. listed? Many of their pubs in Gosport have colourful tiles.
