I hope you're right Mark, but it's also great to hear that Rovers have permission to build their 21k seater stadium, although finances are subject to Saino's getting permission to build a superstore at the Mem.

I had A LOT of time for Mark McGhee and I wish him well. Good to know he can still be complimentary about us given the shameful abuse he got from some very noisy Albion fans, when he had a laughable budget to work with.

Yes and indeed almost every other club in the Championship is doing likewise so what is his point.

As every one else does, I am hoping that the Albion will achieve the holy grail sooner rather than later (as I may not be around that long) but we have to remain patient and enjoy everything which is currently happening at the club and, looking at developments over this summer, we have much to look forward to with recent acquisitions.

I am going to the Chelsea game but I cant wait for Cardiff when, after the previous Hull City fixture, we will have some idea if we are up for it (taking into account further signings)

We are not going to concede many goals this coming season, but with our current strike force we will not score too many either. For us to get promoted McSmudger needs to start playing football ie with the ball, not running around like a lunatic.Or Gus has to admit he made a mistake sell him and buy a proven striker from this level or above

I like the optimism of your first sentence but there is still a gap to plug to reduce our vulnerability in the centre.

As for the rest. It's just your usual petty and vindictive crusade against CMS. Broken record my friend. No-one is listening

It was far worse under Adams (Mk II) and Slade didn't have us playing good football, just effective. Bearing in mind we were actually pretty sh*t and in a pretty sorry state financially, he did a great job. People often forget he got us into the Champ when we weren't that great a League One side and kept us up there when we were a very poor Champ side.

Plus, he's a cracking advert for the club in my opinion. Every time he speaks about us its in glowing terms. Plus he gave me an autograph in the casino once and was a complete gent about it.

Completely justified for ever letting the worst ever player (Henderson) to ever pull the shirt on to take us down

I firmly believe we have the strike force, just need that extra ingredient in midfield as discussed on many threads, another striker would be welcome of course.

We were never in relegation troubles in League One under him and managed a season in the Championship, as soon as he left we had an OK season under Wilkins and then spent the next two seasons around the bottom of League 1.

McGhee did a very good job given the lack of funds and the football under him may have been dire at times but never came close to being as shit as Adams mark 2 and we had a great season in the Championship and a promotion under him. You'd have thought he was the anti christ according to some on here.

You should have gone to Gillingham, then you'd know what a load of bollocks that statement is

Just ok? Given the backing the poor guy was given, we had a bloody good season.

You are fast becoming the most tedious poster on here, and there's some pretty stiff competition for that crown.

Fair comment but the football wasn't that great from memory and that is one of the main gripes from so many about McGhee.

Players to play good football cost money. We never had any in those days, and had to play "pragmatic football". McGee mugged Celtic to get us money to survive, and got us a promotion. That is his legacy. I think he lost the plot towards the end, just like Millwall fans warned us he would.

Worse than Richard Tiltman? Ashley Neal? Geoff Cooper? Les Berry? Valur Gislasson? I could go on. An utterly laughable statement. The further we get from that time, the more it stands out as a remarkable achievement, what McGhee did with that side.

I hope if he ever comes to the Amex as a visiting manager, he's afforded a decent reception.
