There has been discussion of a wooden spoon competition.
My thoughts are, just to keep things going a bit for everyone:

Top 2 from each group into the quarter finals
Next 2 teams in each group drop into a Euro Conference League type competition.
Bottom teams go in for the Johnson Paint Trophy (or is it the Papa John's these days?)
