If anything it's getting easier as so many words have already been used. I might have laboured to a 4 today had I not been able to discard one possibility as it was a recent answer.

As for the obviousness of the words, cast your mind back to January's crimp, rebus and knoll.

It’s played in very different ways. Some play it with optimum first words, tactical letter elimination,, tracking previous words etc. Some like myself try to get it done with the first words that come into my head by the time I’ve finished my morning no.2.
