Anyone else doing the Great Manchester 10k Sunday? I have only been out for a run twice since the Brighton Marathon so not exactly prepared but did 10k earlier without too much trouble. I think this is the fourth time I've done it and it's usually a good turn out.
One minor gripe, on the Mill Road P&R they picked everyone up at the bottom rather than following the line of parked cars then afterwards dropped everybody off again at the bottom and made them walk up the ****ing hill!! I could really have done without that!
Not sure how me having to drive down from Wales a day early and then drive to Brighton tomorrow just to pick up my number is reducing the carbon footprint!
It's a pain having to go to Brighton to pick up the number. I'm not sure why they can't post it like most others manage to do (other than to hope you spend some dosh in their exhibition of course).
17 miles today in just under three hours so that's the last long run out the way. Very windy up here too but for once I had the wind behind me on the way back!
I got overtaken by a stick of rock in my first Brighton marathon.
Also in the last one by that guy who was doing something like five consecutive marathons (and was on his fifth).
20 mile run completed in 3.40. I know I'm nowhere near the times of most people on here but I'm aiming for 4.30 on 12th so happy with that. 17 next week then some serious tapering!
Thanks for the advice. I haven't done a trail marathon. I have done some off road running in Cumbria and Snowdonia (I live in North Wales) and must admit it is definitely easier on the joints. Whether I could manage a marathon I'm not sure, the most I have done off road is about 12 miles but...
I have done 18 the last two Sundays, will do 20 this Sunday then taper down from there. I find the long runs painful and ache like buggery the next day. This will be my fourth and last marathon.
