I was having this chat with a newly promoted Ipswich fan

VAR is obviously one of the big grievances
FFP
Low chance of being top 4, if you aren’t a Top 4 club
High chance of being relegated if you’ve just been promoted
Bigger sense of entitlement from fans
Games seldom played at 3pm on a Saturday

What do you dislike about the Premier League?
All the f***ing moaners and wingers, going on about the good old days when you could get pissed up, have a fag, an not care about VAR because you had no clue what was going on.

The constantly changing kick off times. The one thing I do like with the Championship is that most games are 3pm on Saturdays other than the midweek schedules.

And sorry to say, the plastic fans. Yes we need their money but more than half of our current crowd never went to Withdean. I do accept though we have moved on and people like the better facilities we now have to offer so its somewhat understandable.
And the Friday night matches

As someone who started coming to the Albion in the years between Withdean and Premier League (I.e. Championship at the Amex), can I just confirm whether I’m regarded as a “plastic” or not? Thanks.
Polymer, certainly.

The hype/obsession by many fans in the other 19 clubs, at its extreme a 24-7 deranged hatred of the others.

For us this started like a light switch in August 2017. For some it appears far more compelling than Albion watching and celebrating.

Football’s always had schadenfreude, I remember in the 70’s enjoying car crash ManU. But I’m pretty sure it’s escalated several levels. Probably through social media and the legions of miserable older males.

When we were in the EFL, did we obsess in hating Rotherham, Ipswich and dozens of other clubs?
Orient. ???

Haha, they actually wanted another season in the Championship - they don’t think the club is Prem ready etc etc
That old chestnut. Doesn't quite work like that - who's to say they'd go and smash it next season in the championship? It's an incredibly unpredictable league. Got to grab the chance when you get it. We did bloody well to regroup and go again when we just missed out and lost in the playoffs

We had almost as many fans going to our Championship games at the Amex though, so that’s not a Premier League issue.

Yep , can you really call a lot of fans plastic considering for years in the championship (including 14/15 when we almost went down) we averaged about 28k?

If you are near the top of the Championship you don’t get many 3pm on a Saturday. A lot of evening games as well. Some viewing the Championship with rose tinted glasses.

Top worst things about the premier league wow where to start let’s give it a go then my top ten

1. VAR is awful just awful how can decisions take so long.
2. The money sloshing around is frankly ridiculous.
3. The Control imposed by TV companies.
4. The control the premier has on the future of our game.
5. The fit and honest checks on prospective owners of clubs.
6. The continued threat of a European super league.
7. The almost total disregard of the fans.
8. The crumbs from the rich man’s table that falls onto the leagues below.
9. The setting of rules and the blatant breaking of those rules by the clubs with the most money.
10.The over commercialisation of our game.

Yeah.

It was better when we were in tier 3.

No interference from TV companies (we weren't on TV)
No VAR (but not needed because players were to shit to even foul properly)
No Forign money (no money of any sort)
No FFP (no need, no money)
All the players were from the UK and Ireland (largely crap, with dreadful hair cuts)
Disgusting toilets, where the cleanest thing in there was your cock, closely followed by your dusty ringpiece
Casual racism
The under-commercialism of the game (I would of liked a replica shirt in 1972).

Good point. So if you want 3pm KOs either be shit in the Championship or shit in the EPL…I’ll go with the latter.
