[Technology] Help setting up Humax as HDD on Tv

Dorset Seagull

Once Dolphin, Now Seagull
Decided to do away with my Humax as a set top box as my TV has freeview and I can connect it to the Dish for Freesat instead of using the Humax. I want to use the Humax box as a HDD so I can record from the TV.

Have connected the Humax to the Panasonic TV with a USB cable to the HDD slot as described in the Panasonic manual. However when going into the setup to format the Humax it is not recognised as a HDD.

Any ideas what could be wrong and why it is not recognised?

I doubt the Humax can act as a slave HDD, I'd suggest getting a (powered) hard drive.
Exactly this.

You can only record signals that go directly through it as far as I'm aware.

We use a Freesat Humax connected to a satellite dish that I put up as our Freeview signal was always iffy. We can only record whatever it picks up via Freesat.
