Statement from Lewes board of directors re. Wimbledon game
liam [62.252.160.4] Fri Jul 11 15:08:35

"In the wake of protests from supporters of Lewes FC, AFC
Wimbledon, Brighton & HA and many others, the Board of
Directors have agreed to cancel the forthcoming pre-season
friendly match against Wimbledon FC scheduled for July 24th.

The match against Wimbledon was arranged in order to allow our
players to play against a team from a significantly higher
standard of football. The game was arranged through the
personal contacts of a member of our coaching staff and
suggestions that the Club received payment to play or that a
bumper crowd was expected are simply untrue.

Unfortunately it is not often that a club of our stature gets
the opportunity to play against First Division opposition,
however, having acknowledged the strength of feeling amongst
our fans opposed to this game, we now feel that it would be
against the interests of everybody at the Club to go ahead with
this match."

Excellent stuff...

Get it Wimbledon, no one wants you or cares about you anymore and its all down to 1 man, Mr Cunt Koppel and his buttmunching cronies!

Well done everybody! This is what Fans United is all about.

Incidentally, her Ladyship had a few pithy words this morning with our contact at Lewes FC. He said that he had thought it was a match against AFC Wimbledon that had been arranged - until he was alerted to the rumpus on the website.

:)
