I have it on good authority from an old boy that if your spuds get frosted, cut the affected shoots off just below the soil surface level, otherwise the frost damage can go all the way down to the tuber and kill it.

Pretty much perfect, the more you water the better but put plenty of compost and paper in and the rain alone will be enough to get a crop.... it should always be remembered that Runner Beans have somehow managed to keep reproducing without help from mankind.
