[Politics] Tory meltdown finally arrived [was: incoming]...

This is good news. At last some grown-ups in the room. Absolute sense not to split the anti-Tory vote. I like the idea of voters "pairing" although I have my doubts how effective that is likely to be on a practical level. Worth a try though. Whatever needs to be done to consign these nasty...

[Politics] Tory meltdown finally arrived [was: incoming]...

You mean the "inequality" of admitting ring-wing Tory Elphicke immediately into the Labour Party whilst continuing to suspend Diane Abbot, the country's first ever female, black MP who has been returned by her constituents with huge majorities since 1987. That kind of inequality?

But it isn't as straightforward as you imply. A married couple (and you are deemed to be a married couple unless you have formally separated) can only have one property which qualifies for "main residence relief" ie qualifies for CGT exemption. If, upon marriage, both spouses own a property...

And soooooo...as expected....slippery Sunak's NHS targets have been missed again. And that is despite another fiddle to the numbers to exclude 36K community paediatric appointments. "We still have more work to do, but our plan is working." said the lying, smug shortarse...

That's UK politics under the Tories. You can be a racist, mysoginist, a grubby perv providing sensitive security data to people or persons unknown, but as long as you say "sorry" all is well with the world. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-68740332

Why hasn't he been sacked? He should have been booted out by now. I'm sure there will now be a lengthy internal enquiry that will drag on until the GE when he will stand down to "spend more time with his family" so he can claim his "leaving Parliament" bonus. ETA You would like to think that...

What is the definition of "a nuisance"? Who will decide what constitutes "a nuisance"? And therein lies the first problem with such a scheme.

Lions led by donkeys. The workmen will only be able to complete the repairs that are on their job lists. It is the morons drawing up the job lists who are to blame. The fact the council employs somebody to go round and "colour in" the potholes has always been a mystery to me. What a waste of...

They are only botching up the potholes in Worthing - and the botches don't last for long. They cba to re-surface the area over the top of the "repaired" potholes. In my road, last year, they botched up a pothole - but didn't repair another pothole not 10 feet away from the one they did repair...

With over 70% of UK water companies in foreign / overseas ownership it is time that the water companies were re-nationalised. The profits "stolen" by the overseas investors can then be re-invested in infrastructure. The Victorians were brilliant engineers and the fact that our sewerage system...

No. You make a good point. I was pondering last night whether the current pathetic childish exchanges between Sunak and Starmer are because we have such a weak Speaker that has lost a lot of respect recently. But it isn't. It's always been this way although perhaps not to the extent it is...

How can it be "very safe" if we are granting asylum to people fleeing Rwanda? Did you read this article posted earlier in the thread by Pevenseagull? https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-africa-51667168 Does it sound like a "very safe" country to you? Try this from Rainbow Migration...

Is it not another example of GBNews doing exactly what OfCom slapped their wrists for? A politician spouting their political bile in the guise of "news". There is no avenue for anybody to challenge Rees-Mogg's racist rhetoric. If there was, he would go scurrying home to Nanny the :tosser:

[Politics] Tory meltdown finally arrived [was: incoming]...

There is a simple question for the Tories to answer (and I'm surprised that Starmer hasn't asked it at PMQs). It is this. "If Rwanda is a "safe country" why are we granting asylum to people from Rwanda?" As for the minister from the 19th century, I think Nanny needs to make him go to bed...

So the conclusion we draw is that you can be racist (or Islamaphobic or anti-semitic or homophobic) but as long as you say "sorry" and give the Tories £10m, everything is forgiven and forgotten. Got it!

I think it was "Defender of Faith" ie that he would, as King, defend everybody's right to practice their own faith. I thought this was paving the way for us to become a more tolerant and inclusive society. But then he made his Coronation speech and he was banging on about Protestantism and his...
