I clicked on this thread by accident; it's been a while since I came here deliberately! I never really recovered from a series of nothing injuries and age (60) is now slowing me down. Currently suffering from 'persistant' Covid and not able to do any running at all. Iwill get back to it soon...
i'm back! After last year's strenuous efforts I have had a miserable 12 months of hamstring injury followed by Plantar Fasciitis. I have kept fit in the gym and spinning and finally managed my first run of the year at last week's Orpington parkrun. Happy days, but slow ones.
NAME
5K SB...
A bit off a SB at Orpington for me. I am supposed to be working on 5k pace but I have got distracted. My better half has decided from nowhere to aim for a 10k and is making cracking progress, and I have been on her training runs. Yes, I know that is just an excuse!
Have fun tomorrow.
I think I will give Lullingstone a miss having looked at the course, but I might make a switch from Orpington to Bromley for my attempt at a PB.
Assuming this sort of tactic is going to pass the adjudicator.
I was going to have a bash at the table but decided there might be times I missed from others so I will bottle out. Unsurprisingly my times are all rather slow, which is what you get for waiting until your 40s to do any exercise and wrecking your already damaged knee, which is why I spread the...
Orpington is usually OK as it runs around the top of a hill and the only bits that used to get messy (narrow paths between the fields) have been filled with aggregate.
Arundel is great fun. Done it a few times as it is my home town and I like the additional family support! Not decided about this year, would like to do it and it is in my plan, so who knows.
Well I have laid out a plan with a repeating 4 week cycle. It has ended up with a bit more distance in it than I intended, with the purpose of ensuring aerobic fitness balanced by strength and speed training. I snuck in another 10K before I start (Chislehurst Chase on 17 Sept) and I intend to...
200 miles! That is crazy. I don't know whether I have more admiration for the speedy ones who can do that in two days or the poor souls slogging along for four days.
My PB of 26:15 was set over 4 years ago and my SB is 28:18 so my first target is to beat that PB but I have what I think is an ultimate achievable aim of 25:00. I have been targeting distance this year for the Ironman but that is now done so on with the fresh challenge. I am going to use the...
No parkrun for Orpington this morning. Caravans.
I'm putting together a programme for lowering my 5K time but then decided on one more triathlon at Seaford in a couple of weeks so won't be starting for a few weeks.
The programme is going to be broadly: 1 day sprints, 1 day hill sprints, 2...
I did the Dartford Midnight Man 3.8k open water swim, 180k bike ride, marathon, starting 6 p.m. Saturday, finishing 9:30 a.m Sunday. On reflection I can see "nutter" being an appropriate description.
