Best to Google making your own nematodes.
I suppose it's actually a slug concentration camp and it's the nematodes being farmed. The idea is for the slugs to have some greenery to live on and then the nematodes pick them off and multiply thousands of times.
Is your allotment in Hove?
Woodchipped the paths and seating area.
Been on a slug offence due to the rain. Collected nigh on 200 that have been placed in the slug farm. A few of them have a parasite, nematodes, and this spreads amongst newcomers. Currently they are dieing within 3 days. The resulting stinking solution is...
Same here. Live behind Marocco's ice cream/restaurant and have the summer mornings by the beach and then as it gets busy scoot up to the quiet of the allotment. Sleep up there in our old Worthing Beach hut sometimes.
Meant to be campervanning through Scandinavia for 6 weeks at this moment and...
Same here. Learnt to grow what we need or bottle, conserve and freeze.
Thought I'd show that my plot isn't just flowers. Amongst the propagators are:
Healthy looking spuds.
Spinach Very happy with life.
Strawberries halted by the sun disappearing.
Carrots having a peak.
Chard and these...
Very well. Borlottis, courgettes, spinach, uchiki kuri (squash), beetroot and cucumber. Broad beans forming, lettuce doing well and this year doing carrots after 10 years off. Happy looking one inch carrot growth so far. What about you?
Here's a picture of my arse. The flowers hide the fruit...
Early bonfire today. Blue skies but the sea fret arrived by 7am. First asparagus bunch meeting the last of the purple sprouting that is desperately trying to go to seed. All potatoes starting to peek out and flowers beginning on the strawberries.
We're off in the camper for 6-8 weeks in 10 days time, so have been gradually closing up shop. Greenhouse tomato plants will be burnt to avoid blight whilst away. We're already on autumnal work.
Good work Amex. Had bad blight 3 weeks ago over whole site. Greenhouse tomatoes survived but not outside ones. Spuds cut back and tubers were ok.
Borlotti beans looking good.
Greenhouse.
Good shots AmexRuislip can’t beat the allotment in early summer. She had a plant sale for the Refugee Kitchen in Calais at Weald Allotment Hove last Sunday. Raised £300 in an hour and a half. The geums sold out in 5 minutes. Good propagating there. I was the supply runner.
For the veg Here’s my...
