It's not corruption. The ref is not making decisions, because he's been bribed or for some other personal gain. To suggest otherwise, as you say, is a massive allegation which one would need to back up with solid evidence.

Big club bias happens now and has happened for years.
The pundits generally played for the clubs which benefitted for years from highly generous refereeing. If they admit to concerns it belittles their career achievements.
Had they given a flag and a whistle to Noel and Liam Gallagher and sent them out to officiate, those City players couldn't have expected more favourable decision making.
A very very good team, but probably 10 of the points they've got this season are down to the refs
