Perfect, thank you, will go with that. Presumably a regular geometric sort of pattern is appropriate in this instance? And, is Verbena bonariensis easy to buy (e.g. B&Q?)? Sent from my SM-A127F using Tapatalk

Is that right? Why is it so crap compared to the large pots or half barrels that people plant up on patios and outside pubs? It was, however, certainly rubbish last year with marigolds and pansies planted in straight lines.... Reasonably fanatical looking after is feasible between now and...

    [Help] Gardeners Question Time.

Can the panel please advise me on how best to populate this planter at my cricket club? It is roughly 5ftx3ft. Soil depth is not great but presumably adequate for likely size of plants. It can/will be watered most days as needed but lower maintenance would be good if not compromising...

Agreed...!!! Incredibly satisfying. I’m going to find another one to do tomorrow. [emoji23][emoji23]

Thank you so much for all of that. Top drawer advice as usual from the experts on this thread. I’ll wait for the weather to clear up and give it a whirl this afternoon. Attached is photo of my flower bed all new this year.

This olive tree is in the wrong place - shading a flower bed and patio as well as just getting too big. I want to remove it. Can I just saw the branches off and then dig it out with a spade? Or will that be too difficult? Also, just checking, it doesn’t have a sale value, does it?

    [Help] Gardeners Question Time.

Good post. I did two hours on my lawn today mowing, aerating and overseeding. Finished off with green mesh netting to keep crows and foxes away from my juicy chafer grubs... nematodes (spring and autumn dose package) ordered online today - hoping to be able to remove netting in June with...

Ah, thanks. So not “Iris” then...? Can expect some small flowers in the summer from it?

I’m hoping that I’ve got the heights right in the best places... some are only max 30-40cm tall and some say as much as 150cm which I’ve put in the middle....

Brilliant. Thank you very much. Will lambs ears grow much and have flowers? Are 1-4 all perennials? I know that in October I planted a pair of “biannuals” but I think they might be ones that I moved out...?

    [Help] Gardeners Question Time.

Would it be normal to plant annual (“bedding”?) flowers in the gaps between perennials? Or something else?

Successful trip to the garden centre followed by planting today. I now have... Convolvulus Heuchera Spirea Euphorbia Cornus Penstemon Polyphyllus Delphinium Digitalis Cytisus and a rose. In addition I have some unidentified plants that I will post as a quiz on GQT so I can complete my bed...

    [Help] Gardeners Question Time.

As predicted the October planting has turned out pretty badly and I basically need to start from scratch again... the pansies and violas are on the way out but still going so I've moved the best ones into pots together. The bulbs haven't really worked - just green leaves have come up. The...

Thanks again. Yes, hopefully in the Spring I can buy some nice plants to replace and improve bits. How would you approach the “edging”? Insert something or just do it with a tool?
