A good 18 miles today - ahead of my plan for Manchester. Can't believe how cold it got in the snow when we were looping round the outside of Crystal Palace Park. My chest was still glowing red an hour after I got home it was sol cold, and that was under two layers!

If you want to stick with Garmin, the Forerunner 235 is excellent. Finds GPS almost instantly and connects via Bluetooth to upload to the Garmin app on your phone. Definitely recommended (by others on here as well).

Parkrun done (with man flu!) And got an Orpington Road Runners hoodie which is very nice.

Oh, I forgot about this. Can you update with my recent half marathon of 1:38:13 that I did in Victoria Park. Don't want to miss out! Thanks

I'll be at Clair Park on Christmas Day as we're staying with the in-laws, then probably back home for New Years so planning Lloyd Park (technically Croydon - sorry!) and then Bromley.

If you're not doing at least one run on Christmas Day and two on New Year's Day then you're not a proper parkrunner...

Didn't manage to get to parkrun yesterday so was going to run this morning instead. Don't think I'll bother... :lolol:

On an arm pouch - don't really like carrying it and generally don't take it, but was useful for Beachy.

I know there have been a lot of other replies now, but thought I'd reply directly. The watch has been on my wrist pretty well non-stop for over 2 weeks now, and I've used it for half a dozen activities. The reason I got it when I did was for the Beachy Head Marathon - I used the live track...

Not sure what you consider midrange, but I've just got a Garmin Forerunner 235 (as recommended by Bozza and several others!) and I'm very impressed. Half the weight of my old 910xt and usuable all day as a proper watch.

It really was a fantastic day and the views from the top of the Downs were amazing. Got round in 4.43 which was about what I hoped for. Given how much I struggled in the last few miles (the Seven Sisters are a killer!) I was very pleased with it. Brilliantly organised race - refreshment stops...

Thanks for all the advice guys - looking forward to this even more now, although will be bitterly disappointed if all the sausage rolls have gone by the time I get there!

Yep - 2 weeks. I'm trying not to see it as a competitive race, but would like to get round in less than 5 hours. Did Brighton in 4 hours last year so hoping this is possible.

I like the way you say that as if I have a choice over how quick I'll be running!

Cheers. Really looking forward to it, don't care about the time. Think there's quite a few heading down from our running club (Orpington Road Runners) so should be a bit like an end of season party. Ready for my sausage roll!

What a perfect morning for running. A hilly 22 miles done. Beachy Head - I'm ready for you! (well, I'm ready to run a bit, walk a bit and generally struggle round...)

About 22 (hilly) miles for me on Sunday as a last run before Beachy Head. Not ideal being less than 2 weeks before the race, but just need to try and get some miles into my legs as training has been less than ideal! Not too worried as just looking on Beachy as a nice day out.

Yeah - definitely going the right way, but still a minute off my PB from a couple of years ago, and based on how I felt at the end of this mornings run that is a long way off. Also about to get into proper marathon training so suspect speed work will have to take a bit of a back seat for a...
