Nah. fog of memory my friend. The North Stand roof was off before then. Certainly for the 80/81 season. I've seen a video of the Man City game in the October.
The second photo is taken between 1976 and 1983.
As kids we would climb up the steps at the side of the viaduct (presumably the steps to what was Lewes Road Halt) and run along the top of the viaduct and look over the dodgy edge.

Whether there is truth in that or not I don't know. After all, the war is full of tall stories that grow by the year. I learnt not to believe much of what I was told. Apparently Hitler didn't allow the Pavilion to be bombed because it was going to be his English home after the war (no evidence)...

I don't know why irks me. But you always put question marks after each one when the place is so obviously the one you suggest. Like above where it actually says 'Freshfield Inn' !
