First time at Preston Park parkrun for me today (not quite sure why I haven't been before as it's not much further for me from my parents house than hove park) 17:35 and first old got for me.
First 5k of the year and pretty happy with that as only 9 seconds off last year's SB age grading 78.20%...
Yep, there's a few guys from my club who are a bit annoyed about not being able to compare age grade records. Also the guy with the most first finishes is a member of our club, haven't seen it yet but apparently he did an interview for the BBC earlier today.
Seems it might be related to this (apologies for the source, I couldn't find it elsewhere!) https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-12910423/Parkrun-rules-allow-runners-self-ID-gender-force-women-elite-athletics-ex-marathon-star-Mara-Yamauchi-warns.html
I love a bit of XC, although a bit of a change for me this year having moved to a new club in a higher division I am now finishing 18th for my club instead of the previous 3rd so am no longer troubling the scorers. It might be the motivation I need to train a bit harder!
I had similar when they were looking for inherited heart conditions, they found an exercise induced enlarged ventricle which they wanted to monitor but otherwise everything was ok, actually overdue a follow up so probably need to get on to the GP
If I wake up healthyish tomorrow morning (I've had some cold/flu/COVID type bug for the last 2.5 weeks) I'm doing my first off-road marathon tomorrow, stupidly I picked the Scafell Pike Marathon!
Wish me luck 😬
Oh and £10 for name printing on my vest was the best money I've ever spent, barely anyone around me had their name printed so it felt like the whole crowd was cheering just for me all the way round!
Did anyone else see the Albion shirt being held up on a stick at London last week? I gave a big old shout of seagulls as I ran past, support was amazing despite the weather.
Rare trip to Hove Park parkrun for me this morning, managed my 2nd best parkrun time of 17:26 with a best ever age grading of 78.3% lovely conditions for running!
Had an amazing run today at the Surrey Half Marathon, 1:18:36 for a 2 minute PB.
So happy as I wasn't sure how the marathon training was going after a bit of stop/start at the beginning of the year due to colds and flu.
Thought I'd gone off too fast when the first mile clocked in at 5:40 but...
Ran a new 10k pb this morning at the super flat super fast Sri Chinmoy 10k in Battersea Park. 36:22 (also my 2nd best ever age grading of 75.67%).
So glad for the 8:30 start and mostly shady course.
Such a fast race that I still only managed 57th out of 135 runners!
