After missing out on the cut for 2019, training for 2020 before the cancellation, qualifying for the third time in 2022; I finally completed the Boston Marathon on Monday. It was quite a day: - I boarded one of the hundreds of big yellow school buses next to Boston Common at 6:45am. - A full...

Good luck on Sunday. As a rule of thumb, you should be able to achieve double your half marathon time + 10 minutes. So, a sub 3:30 time looks very achievable. I know most of the running articles say you shouldn't try and front load a race but it's always worked for me. Just as long as you're...

I just broke in a new pair of shoes. It's peak marathon training week and I wanted to give my new race shoes a try (Saucony Endorphin Pro 3). I have a full shoe rack next to my front door which holds 12 pairs of shoes, only 3 of them are not for running. 8 pairs of road shoes in various states...

Oh nice, it's good to have an organised race as a training run. Just don't race too hard! I'm actually doing a similar race on the same day. Around the Bay, which is usually 30k, but they've extended it to 34k this year because of construction at their usual finishing venue.

Good luck ForestRow. Hoping to welcome you to the sub-3 club. The big crowds in London will definitely help you get over the line. That's what really got me to my PB in Berlin a couple of years ago. I had a slight blip in my Boston training a couple of weeks ago when I had to stop halfway...

I would say carbon plated shoes aren't overkill if you're trying to go for PBs. They will help you conserve energy and give you the best chance to go faster. I started wearing carbon plated shoes for races about 3 years ago and haven't looked back. I appreciate I am a bit faster but I have...

I'm not looking forward to my long run tomorrow. Current forecast says -7C (feels like -17C with the windchill). I'm going to need all the layers.

Happy new year fellow runners. 2023 ended up being quite light on the running side for me, only managing about 1,400km (870 miles). A minor injury and having surgery on my sinuses gave me some foreced breaks. Otherwise, I just kept myself ticking over and took part in some races without any real...

I think London is often talked about as the best atmosphere at a Marathon. Two of my friends ran it this year, both of them having done at least 3 other majors. They both said it was by far the best race in terms of supporters on the street, even though the weather wasn't great. I have been out...

Congrats on your PB, I got mine in Berlin last year. That's great progression in your marathon times too. That's interesting on your take on Berlin, I thought it was incredibly well organised and had a cracking atmosphere. The expo was a bit too busy but other than that I only had positive...

It's been a while since I posted on here but I do actually have a 5K for the table! I took part in a Tracksmith 5K event a couple of weeks ago. There were some very fast runners taking part but they split it into 5 heats broken down by estimated times. I was in heat 3 and actually felt better...

I can understand not wanting to take part in smaller events. Especially if you're not going to be running those routes regularly and have no real interest in racing. I tend to enter small races because I'm part of the running community and it's more of a social thing. On the other hand, running...

Good morning all. A slightly delayed report from the Berlin Marathon: I don't think I've ever felt so unprepared for a marathon. I had a ridiculously busy week on a work trip in Prague leading up to it. I avoided having more than a couple of beers over the week but didn't have the usual restful...

If it was a week later, I'd have been interested! Unfortunately, this is 3 days after the Berlin Marathon and I shall be at a small beer festival in Munich by that point.

Great job on the Weakest Link runs yesterday :clap2:. I spotted your runs on Strava last night, after I uploaded my workout run. I had to do a tempo run, but it was 34C (+humidity) during the day, so I ended up waiting until 8:30PM before heading out.

I assume this is going to be in June? I was originally planning to be in Sussex in June but my friends ended up cancelling their wedding party (the actual wedding was last year). Given I'm running Berlin in September, I've decided to stop in the UK for a week each side of that, rather than visit...
