    [Help] Gardeners Question Time.

The Buddleia's at work in particular have been alive with butterflies this year. Had this gorgeous creature pop in to say hello in person today :D

Nice visitor indoors this evening. Sorry folks, but they're little stunners and I don't like killing anything, so I've dutifully released him to do his thing 😁

How about a Philadelphus (Mock Orange)? Would do well there and give you a nice sweet smell drifting on the breeze as you watch from your settee as Cav bags that final Tour win next season

Common ink caps. Corprinus something or other. Edit: Just checked for Latin name. It's Coprinopsis atramentaria.

Clever! It's almost hiding in plain sight on a non geeks thread. Chapeau!

He still does, as far as I'm aware. He and his team came and designed a couple of our beds at work. We used to over winter some of their stock in our polytunnels too.

He we go. Another comparison to last year. A self seeded Calendula in the veg garden on May 9th last year. This years efforts come first week in June?...

Health and Safety gone mad eh? Best not be getting folk gathering around the Echiums in short sleeves then 😁 Watch out for those Laburnum seeds too!

They look lovely Jack! I may suggest some of those for work. Ours are just Echium Pininana. Like you say, they seed everywhere! We let them grow on only where we want them around the veg garden as Bee hotels, but visitors love them so much that we let them do their own thing in that...

And this is quite frankly laughable when compared to the pathetic effort of this year (again, no pictures taken yet) This was taken on May 16th last year.

    [Help] Gardeners Question Time.

Looking back at some work photos from about this time last year. I can say categorically that this year's climbing beans look nothing like these from back then. We were late getting this years in due to the cold Spring, and since they've been in they've basically been wind scorched and aren't...

The Echiums that we let set seed and do their own thing in a sheltered semi wild bed have made it through a long cold Spring.

Beware though, slugs and snails love it! But it's a proper doer if you can get it established.

I'm sure you know for certain, as it yours, but looking at that pic, is it definitely Bamboo and not Spanish Reed Grass? Only the way it's got so leggy so quick makes me wonder. I can't see clearly enough from the picture.

Not quite six foot, or a shrub, but loves shade. Also needs to be kept in damp moist soil. Ligularia is your friend.

Yes, that is my fear. Long hot Summers do my head in! Hastings here. A bit cooler being by the coast but bound to be short of rain again.

Looks like we're already heading into a drought situation down here. No rain for the past three weeks, strong winds sucking all the moisture out of the ground last week and no rain forecast for next two weeks

    [Help] Gardeners Question Time.

It's been a really slow year, due to cold Spring. I've just been away for two weeks on holiday. Left the veg garden at work in the hands of others, came back to see they'd not planted much out at all. Even Sweetcorn, Cues, Courgetttes, Squashes etc had barely put on any root in their small...
