    [Football] FA Cup semi finals

Lampard's 'goal' had people baying for goalline technology which has - with one exception - been a huge success, unlike VAR.

You will - but you wouldn't get goals ruled out for such ridiculously slim margins as we did yesterday. The attacker would definitely have been gaining an advantage even if there was a dispute over the last inch or two. If people still want to argue about that, let them. It doesn't really matter...

    [Football] FA Cup semi finals

Simple explanation. You can't see Wan-Bissaka when the ball is kicked. By the time you can, he's run back into position.

    [Football] FA Cup semi finals

You said 'If you know football you know it’s offside during the build up'. I wondered how you reached that conclusion. One that you could only reach if you were bang in line. As for 'adding horizontal lines' to consider how far apart the players are.... not seen anybody mention horizontal...

    [Football] FA Cup semi finals

Not sure how you draw that conclusion. Were you the linesman and bang in line? The TV camera angle made it look slightly offside. The lines showed it was MUCH closer than even that seemed. As for the players not celebrating... players of a Championship club who've come from 3 goals to down to...

    [Football] FA Cup semi finals

To be decided and not easy - didn't say it was. Let's just propose without thinking much about it at all, 30cm from the second last defender. You're right, people will still moan because that's what people do. The difference is that they'd be arguing about a player being 30cm PLUS a toenail...

    [Football] FA Cup semi finals

Sorry but this conspiracy is a sideshow. The ref was decent. If it was bias, why did they give Coventry a marginal stoppage time penalty? The VAR could have overturned that if he was pro-United. If the line was wrong, it’s a mistake. I suspect it wasn’t anyway. They use a much finer line to make...

    [Football] FA Cup semi finals

I’m with you. Even if the tech was infallible, ruling out goals for a margin that small is not what offside is about. People moaning about the officials etc .. I’ve got no issue with anything they did. It’s missing the massive point that it’s ridiculous to ‘flag’ someone for being an inch ahead...

Bamba was standing about 3 yards offside. So far off that the commentator even mentioned it as the ball was crossed in! Very different. Nobody would have a problem seeing those ruled out.

I certainly don’t think you should get shit and that’s undoubtedly wrong. I also doubt very much VAR is improving that situation - it seems to have created far more controversy around officials rather than reduce it.

    Irrelevant.

    [Football] FA Cup semi finals

We’ll agree to disagree. VAR wasn’t brought in to rule out people being an inch offside. It was brought in to prevent goals like Thierry Henry’s infamous handball and has massively over-reached the original intention.

You realise that red line isn’t actually on the pitch and hardly any linesmen over the previous God knows how many decades would have flagged for it?

    [Football] FA Cup semi finals

I genuinely don’t think that’s true. It’s nowhere near clear enough that fans would have felt aggrieved pre-VAR. Pretty much everyone would have deemed that roughly level and accepted it as annoying but one of those things.

    [Football] FA Cup semi finals

I think people do realise that, yes. There are plenty though that feel the natural tolerance that came from making the decision with the naked eye was much more in keeping with the intention of the law.

    [Football] FA Cup semi finals

Honestly, this is nonsense. They could easily have overturned the penalty decision for 3-3. But the offside law is an absolute crock of shit once you start pretending you can judge it accurately enough that someone’s toenail can ruin one of the greatest moments in FA Cup history.

Sooooo funny Amazing that Onana can get a yellow for time-wasting, then show utter contempt by going to his water bottle for a prolonged drink. Should have gone then. Slightest indiscretion now ought to see him walk.
