If it’s any consoltation I’ve seen that happen a couple times after some baby pilots spent an afternoon on the range at a Yeovilton. Partly annoying as the range Bootneck was very specific on how to fire an automatic. From memory his word of choice was ‘wanker’.
A mate who was in the Coldstream guards (marching up and down lovely boy) was in when they swapped over. I think he said something along the lines of ‘SLR could stop an elephant, SA80 to unreliable’
First air rifle at 9 yrs, used fathers 4-10 303 conversation in my teens as well as a 12 bore.
303 in ACF as well as a 25 pounder ( no not joking).
As well as being an armourer in The RN I was on a Junglie squadron so have fired.
