Now this is based on little more than conjecture / supposition, from Steele's interviews, and his difficult time at Sunderland - but I think that the global exposure / attention that comes with playing for a club like Arsenal, might not be the best thing for Jason.
I've not seen this back yet, but it looked a very clear foul (the Roma lad turned his back, and backed in under Bart) and I'd have been astonished had anything coming from it, not being ruled out.
Agree Bart had very little to do last night, but he was solid. And that's back to back clean...
I never said which of the two was the stronger on each stat! I certainly wasn't suggesting that Bart was better on all counts - he clearly isn't.
He is though, overall, a better keeper, in better form, IMO.
Suggesting that my opinion might be clouded by a dislike of mature, ginger goalkeepers...
Well one is taller / bigger than the other and more prone to come out to catch crosses.
One has a significantly higher save percentage than the other.
One has better long range passing stats than the other.
One is calmer on the ball under pressure than the other.
One is quicker out sweeping...
Now, you see - responses like this are really silly.
Roberto de Zerbi is (as per my earlier post that you quoted) a terrifically exciting manager, who sends his teams out to play a style of football that, when it works, is absolutely exhilarating.
I'll not apply to replace him, because A) I'm...
Inflexible in his approach / style / ethos - even if he may have two formations (I'd argue that he doesn't really, as one of them is absolute suicide). To be flexible, or pragmatic, would be to recognise shifts in momentum, to react to subtle alterations in the opposition's tactics, to dial it...
The repeated use of the back three is a far bigger concern than which keeper plays, tbh. With the available personnel it simply does not work. We have been terrible defensively every time we've played it - even including the 5-2 cup WIN at Sheffield United - when we were ripped apart down our...
...or...
De Zerbi is a terrifically exciting, but inflexible and flawed manager, who amongst a load of fantastic work, makes some questionable tactical calls and personnel selections.
If De Zerbi himself is able to see (and state) that he has got stuff wrong, I don't see why we are not also...
'Digging players out' is not the same as just preferring another to be selected.
If RDZ decided to leave a fit Lewis Dunk on the bench tomorrow, and played Webster instead - many people might question - or dare I say express disagreement with - that decision.
Its really no different at all.
If Steele is named, I am going to slump slightly in my seat, sigh a bit, and write something grumpy in a few WhatsApp groups. That will jolly well show RDZ the level of my disappointment.
