The problem with that method comes back to 'pin a rosette of (pick your colour of choice) on a (pick you animal of choice) and the candidate still gets voted in despite having next to no knowledge of local issues.

I do think that there should be a rule that you can't stand in an area for MP unless you've lived there for x years ..... I'd suggest x=5.

If it were me then I'd vote Izzard just to put the cat among the pigeons. Otherwise Birgit Miller as at least she's local - well lived in the city for a number of years even if it isn't in the Brighton Pavilion constituency.
