[Finance] Premium Bonds - prize pool increased again - you ever have any luck?

I’m sure the mechanism has been renewed or upgraded many times since, but about 18 years ago through work, I met a gent who had been working for NS&I, and his last project was some statistical distribution work to analyse a perceived anomaly in ERNIEs true random performance. There is a £100k winner in Brighton and Hove with a total holding of £5795. The winning bond was purchased in Feb 23. Been through the entire list of Feb winners down to £5k, and not joking, there are a LOT of B&H area winners this month, a lot more than usual.

Yes, for the big prizes you can indeed, on the first working day of the month, see the geographic region where the holder resides, and the size of the holder’s holding. But you can’t find out if that is YOU until the prize checker goes live at 00.01 on the second working day.

Absolutely 100% false. The draw is very strictly technologically controlled on the first working day of the month, with the outcomes and the prize checker going live at 0:01am on the second working day of the month.

50k each plus I ‘gave’ one of our lads £4K to do a bit more… Other investment media have the potential to achieve more, but PBs capital secure, albeit not in real money terms, the big plus being the chance of pulling the big one, all prizes tax free.

We got £400 this month, on holdings of £104k. That’s an annualised return of 4.61%, which is very marginally below the advertised average luck rate of return of 4.65%.

We had a 5.2% return equivalent in the Oct draw, and a 7.2% return equivalent in the Nov draw. So, today’s win was effectively 1.5x average luck.
