He's a loon.
In no sense is limiting the use of his app a good idea.
People will just not use it when they can't, then get out of the habit, then not return.
Without doubt this is a Kremlin operation to take down a load of Twitter accounts.
They have included the ones they want taken down in a much wider list of "ordinary Joe" accounts.
If Twitter takes down all these valuable accounts then what is the point of being on Twitter at all ?
"Free...
With Galeev, Mike Martin, Julia Davies, Bellingcat, Elliot Higgens etc. "on the list" this very much looks like a Kremlin operation.
Let's see what Musk does.
Dear oh dear oh dear.
The destruction of Twitter is gathering pace.
The absolute best Twitter account - Kamil Galeev is "on the list", along with Bellingcat, and a couple of other notable, decent accounts.
I can't see myself sticking around on it if the best content providers are booted.
Yes, I think mastodon could be quite good if enough decent analysts and commentators move over to use it.
The trick when signing up is not to freak out and give up when asked which mastodon server to pick - just stick a pin in the list at random.
I've Blocked And Muted both Donald Trump and what I think is the Taliban account.
It seems a simple solution as neither make my Twitter experience any better.
If that is your opinion on Twitter I suggest that if you have used it, you haven't used it in the best way.
- Only follow accounts that write about stuff that interests you.
- "Mute and Block" any accounts that are obnoxious idiots.
It would be good if a lot of sources of information move over to it.
I went through all my twitter follows and would like about 15 of them to be on Mastodon. Sadly just 3 are.
For now it is very "sparse".
Twitter needs to work out the balance between "Free Speech" and allowing lies and abuse.
Ie. The more the "Free Speech", the more the lies and abuse.
If it wants to become more of a lies and abuse platform, then it may be that more users leave, and more advertisers lose interest.
