Exactly, it wasn't that long ago that Trump was threatening to pull the USA out of NATO due to so many members not contributing their 2% of GDP to the funding, and this is Vlad's mate remember. Makes you wonder if there is something from with his memory too?
Unless they have something along the lines of the Tsar Bomb, then I don't believe an underwater nuclear explosion would cause a tsumami. For all the underwater testing done in the 50's & 60's, no significant wave was recorded and it was theorised (but never tested) you would need a line of bombs...
Same thing happened with the former Yugoslavia I'm afraid. :( Some of the stories a mate has told me when he was stationed out their as part of the peace keeping force are harrowing and still haunt him to this day.
They're probably even telling their troops carrying out the shelling that the majority if not all civilians have fled the city, hence the indiscriminate targeting of residential areas an hospitals etc...
Whilst you say that, there are parents in Russia still believing Putin's media propaganda over their own children being bombed & shelled. That is the type of control Putin has over some of his Nation.
The vast majority of the Russian Military hardware is out of date and no match for NATO. Putin knows this and as soon as we get involved without provocation to NATO that is all it's going to need for him to reach for that big red button.
Then it won't just be Ukrainians dying, it will...
You can tell things aren't going as planned for Russia if these guys are that close to the front line to get themselves killed. These Generals, etc are normally commanding the shots from at least 50-100 miles behind the front line.

With NATO, if any member was attacked, the rest would mobilise to help protect them.
With Warsaw Pact, the USSR used the rest of the Countries like Poland, Hungary, Bulgaria etc, like a buffer to protect the Soviet...
Under normal Communism, I would agree, but Putin seems to be running the Country more and more like Fascism under the disguise of Communism. The sooner the general public realise this, the sooner they will revolt.
Not quite, Hitler made his move for the oil fields in the Caucasus before he made sure he had secured Stalingrad and the northern end of that front. It spread his lines too thin and the Soviet army found the correct weaknesses to push through and encircle the forces attacking Stalingrad and the...
Exactly this, the man is still bitter about the fall of the USSR and wanted to be the man who resurrected the Soviet Union. It's become a personal bug in the back of his mind, making him more and more unhinged with reality.
Unfortunately, the 2nd World War showed us it doesn't matter how you treat someone, if they are hell bent on power, domination and invading/starting a war, they will.
We tried the softly, softly approach with Hitler & Germany, say "Oh, we'll let you keep Austria but don't do anything else."...
