I don't think Prigozhin would sell his life for CIA dollars. He's probably signed his own death warrant unless he unseats Putin. Even then, he'd be looking over his shoulder the rest of his life.
Not enough to take on an army, perhaps, but 90% of active Russian forces are in Ukraine, not Russia. And man for man, the Wagner troops are more effective than the regular army. Wagner's weakness is in the air. Has Putin left the door wide open?

It's all gone quiet for the moment, but it does that. You hear nothing for 15 minutes and then gunfire, or more often, distant explosions. But five minutes ago there was a burst of automatic gunfire that sounded about a block away. Hopefully they won't damage the many museums in that area...

It IS close. It is happening next door to NATO countries, so, in effect, next door to all member states, given mutual defence agreements.
