The Tories may be a despicable party, but Labour will still have to produce a manifesto that will entice Tory voters to switch to them. Mid term protest votes against the sitting government are just par for the course. It's no good Starmer putting out policy ideas that will appeal to Labour...
Personally, I'd suggest if they win again, it would be because the Tory voters who might switch get put off by the Labour manifesto if it's full of things they don't like or want. A real election is very different to local elections and opinion polls.
Sorry mate. No need to justify myself to you and if you'd read my original post rather than just jumped on WZ's little bandwagon you'd see why. Or maybe not:facepalm:
Nope, no chords as that wasn't the tune in my original post which simply stated that as a lifelong Tory voter I heard nothing in what Sunak and Truss had to say to make me want to vote Tory again. I'm not stupid or gullible as WatfordZero suggested and not for the first time, WZ turned a simple...
You come across as the sort of Labour supporter that puts me off voting Labour. Slag off the Tories who are pretty fair game at the moment and slag off the very voters Labour needs to turn. Whatever understanding I have, I have managed to grasp that throughout my life, apart from a brief...
Oh dear. Tory voter all my life although didn't vote Brexit. Voted for Boris to stop Corbyn & Co bringing our country to a standstill. But I didn't elect either Sunak or Truss and the more the leadership battle goes on, the more I wouldn't vote the Tories back in. Obviously that's the simple...
Don't think just a donation to Labour will do the trick. Anneliese Dodds popped up on TV looking like she'd just got out of bed and thrown on yesterday's clothes. Hair a mess and showing her grey roots. Yes, I'd criticise a man for poor appearance too. First impressions count. Content wise, she...
Speaking of Billy Bragg, I've only just learned that the Red Wedge actually was a Soviet thing as well as White Russians. Two things I've learned this week.
I have no idea how I will vote come the GE. Tory by nature, but Boris and Sunak don't fit my outlook. Anyone other than Labour would be a wasted vote and I'm not drawn to all the noise Labour makes which seems to have no more substance than Boris is bad - fill in your own reason. So if I think...
Must admit, I wish Sunak would go even more than Boris (just). It's like the bad old Gordon Brown days when I used to dread every time the Chancellor opened his mouth, leaked a thought or delivered a Budget. Now Sunak is after works pensions (allegedly). Call himself a Tory!
How about the one about paying up to £32k to the Waspi women pensioners who lost out when pension ages were raised? Even my wife who would have benefitted didn't believe that one!
I tried not to respond, but your post illustrates exactly why Labour continues to struggle. The attitude that the media creates Tory voters' preferences rather than that they can think for themselves. The smug belief that only Labour voters are smart enough to vote intelligently because the...
Interesting that Boris drew policy in to play by saying that a windfall tax would be 'unconservative', therefore it was voted down. Yet arguably a windfall tax would be the most populist and popular decision he could make. Surely every voter in the land would support it and I believe some of the...
