Smug git alert I kept all mine, and amazingly all the new wave 2 tone etc is still in really god nick. I think thanks to my parents letting me playt records as a kid, but teaching me how to handle them . . . . I've always bought records and still do . . . Hoovered up loads in the early 90's...

I spaffed some money last year after 20 years with the same gear, and have now gone MC on my new Rega, with their Phono stage, it is quite something. I was amazed. I have some Audio technica fake 1210's in the man cave which could do with better cartridge/stylus, there are plenty of good...

I bought a half decent tape deck around '99-2000, its had little use, about 3 years ago I used a focusrite audio interface to record them all as WAV files . . . Along with 2 singles and a digitally recorded 16T reel demo, went to a studio and remixed/mastered everything . . .I was pleasantly...

I've just sold some stuff and reinvested . . . . I'd suggest going semi vintage, ie 80's/90's far cheaper than new and just as good. . . . if not better, and nowhere near as expensive as old vintage or new cyrus 2 amp £150 ish . . . . I have a pair of PMC DB1 bookshelf speakers ( they make...

I was going to guess at Ortofon, a neighbour DJ's a fair bit and has similar on his decks 1BTN late night bigness . . . I thought they looked frail but they happily survived us using them for a big street party all dayer, and we were all very refreshed by midnight

I love twiddling with hi fi stuff, moving things around, finding a different sound . . . . I'm always amazed how different things sound in different rooms. As for vinyl, I was scared off picture discs as a kid when I bought house of fun by madness, played dreadfully, eccentric grooves and...
