I kept all mine, and amazingly all the new wave 2 tone etc is still in really god nick. I think thanks to my parents letting me playt records as a kid, but teaching me how to handle them . . . . I've always bought records and still do . . . Hoovered up loads in the early 90's...
I spaffed some money last year after 20 years with the same gear, and have now gone MC on my new Rega, with their Phono stage, it is quite something. I was amazed.

I do have a chunk of Tasmanian Huon Pine which is just about big enougfh and 40mm thick . . . . Also a slab of solid Iroko worksurface . . . . . both over 15 years old so stable!
speakers are probably best made from good quality...
Exactly what I did . . .I've dumped a load of CD's as well. I have a few hundred to sell and about 70-80 vinyl albums to clear as well . . . . just sitting in the corner for the time being waiting for me to do somehging with them

we have 28 tracks . . .12 studio . . . early stuff was kinks meets early Floyd power pop/psych . . . . later was Roxy/Faces/Ziggy esque . . . well, to my ears anyway!

On a slight tangent, I have been using a focusrite audio interface this week to rerecord a load of old cassette tapes and digitise, have also had a 1/2" 16 track tape digituised and for remasterings and hopefully release an album from my band in the mid 90's, which fell to bits after 2 singles...
I've just sold some stuff and reinvested . . . . I'd suggest going semi vintage, ie 80's/90's far cheaper than new and just as good. . . . if not better, and nowhere near as expensive as old vintage or new
