Looks like they rode their luck a bit.

Still 3 games to play in the league, so possibly could be less than 10 pts to make up, but yes still unlikely. I seem to recall that USG's lead in their first season back in the top league had a similarly large lead prior to the play offs, but still lost out.

The halving of points, in the playoffs, make it more likely the other teams can compete., but you would assume the gap is still too big.

Yeah - it doesn't really make much sense, halving the advantage. In the current situation Bruges could finish level on points, but win overall because USG have a "half point" rounded up. But that is only a half point because the rules of the tournament, cut their advantage in half. Bruges...

Realistically need to beat Bruges away on Wednesday. But in theory they can still be champions even if they lose as there will be 2 more games (Anderlect and Antwerp) for both USG and Bruges to play after that.
