    General Election 2017

What would be the platform ? What does 'progressive alliance' mean ? The liberals are unlikely to agree to large increases in public spending and the consequent interest rate rises. Labour is committed to leaving the EU (JC is a lifelong leaver) and that cannot be reconciled with the liberals...

    General Election 2017

So you would be happy with a world where your opponents described you and your beliefs in those terms ? Better to be the mature one, surely.

    General Election 2017

No worries, enjoy your day and the strong showing from your party.

    General Election 2017

I would never use the word 'cancer' in such a way. Perhaps you would. Perhaps you don't have relatives facing the disease. No sour grapes here. I'm old Labour ie pre the 1980s shenanigans. I'm not sure who to support these days.

SHE is 'hate filled'. Right you are....

    General Election 2017

No, I don't think so. Democracy has been rejuvenated with high turnouts. The electorate have spoken and it's up to the politicians to make sense of the result. Division is only caused by juvenile unpleasantness on the internet.

    General Election 2017

It would be lovely if certain types of poster could find it within themselves to enjoy the strong performance of their chosen party without resorting to nastiness and in this case demeaning the terminally ill. Maybe I'm just an idealist. JC has performed extraordinary well against expectation...

The angriest man in that audience was a Labour supporter. I don't feel the need to racially stereotype him for his anger.

    General Election 2017

I wouldn't go that far :) The new left is all about student protest/trendy liberalism and isn't really socialist.

    General Election 2017

Indeed. It's the usual internet distortion of the phenomenon of the 'shy tory.' Nothing to do with shame or embarrasment but rather a lack of interest in being harangued by the other side. This thread has ample evidence of the refusal by many on the new left to enter into civilized discussion...

    General Election 2017

That's true of both parties. Many on the Labour side are holding their noses whilst voting Labour led by Corbyn and McDonnell.

    General Election 2017

Why do you expect older people to listen to you when in your previous post you were dishing out insults ? You may have a point but I'm not going to bother thinking about it.

    General Election 2017

I'm an undecided but your post couldn't be any further from the truth. When I first took out a mortgage, interest rates were upwards of 12% so although the house cost less my mortgage payments were no less painful. Student loans didn't exist but there were far fewer university places so anyone...

    General Election 2017

I'm not sure a straight comparison with Germany tells us a great deal about this issue. There are other economic forces at work applying to one or other of the two economies that makes isolating the tax effect very difficult. One good example is the distorted economic incentive of German export...

    General Election 2017

It's probably organized as part of the election campaign so, as you say, best disregarded as a source. However the Tories do have a lot of explaining to do on police numbers. As a party of 'law and order' they don't seem to be doing a great job in protecting us.

    General Election 2017

Very balanced view of both the good work and the constraints to what can can be achieved in the public sector. It matches my own experience and is a world away from the pictures painted by ideologues of both Left and Right.

    General Election 2017

I would like to know whether JC approves of the terrorists being shot dead last night. If he wins on Thursday and something else happens next weekend will police orders have been changed ?

    General Election 2017

I've lived and worked around the world including amongst Muslim populations and the only people I have ever heard pose this question about their community is a subset of White British people.

    General Election 2017

Government has a responsibility to protect us from all threats not just 'today's issue.' We are not under nuclear threat because deterrence is working. Terrorism is something different and cannot be counter acted by nuclear defence but this is not the only defence issue we face.

    General Election 2017

Perhaps a rather too literal take on language. We do need to be careful not to twist the words of any politician seeking to represent us whether they be JC, Michael Fallon or anyone else otherwise we descend into an American type electoral process.
