Yeah, they are attracting a new generation of younger fans through their soundtrack to Disco Elysium. It's great to see it's not only old bald gits like myself that go to see them! The crowd singing All In It was quite emotional - don't think I've witnessed that before.
Good to see you as ever. Bumped into your mate Kev at the Corn Exchange. Sea Power set same as Weds and went down really well I thought - apart from Yan forgetting the lyrics to Remember Me! Heartworms were great too, of course.
Yeah, very sad news. They certainly won't be the same without him. Not sure if Tom is a permanent replacement - but he'll be doing the upcoming dates for sure.
Went to see him live last year with massive reservations but absolutely loved it. They have pretty much nailed the sound and I can put up with his singing!
I've seen them a few times now - they're great, and beginning to get a bit of a following. Defo worth catching live if they play Brighton again (I think they like it - they played four sets at the Great Escape). First band on, Shady Baby (terrible name) were also excellent, hard-driving...
Off to see Been Stellar tonight at Green Door Store, great band discovered at Great Escape. Cool Brooklyn kids, quite Strokes-y.
Not sold out, on at 9.50. Come on down.
I've seen Porridge Radio a couple of times. Bit disappointed with the last one tbh. Will be interested to hear what you make of Italia 90. The singer has, shall we say, a 'strong' look, but they seem sound. The vocals are a bit monotone and repetitive (deliberately) but very powerful stuff...
Fotaines DC tonight at the Garage. Exceptionally brilliant, in a line of great Irish bands.
Almost as good as Bodega the other week!
So much good music around at the moment.
Anyone else catch Life at Green Door Store last night? I saw the end of their set at the Komedia at the Great Escape and thought they were great. Last night topped that- surely one of the most exciting new bands out there. Excellent support from Hotel Lux too.
I've seen them a 'few' times as well! I loved it - but I was down the front, as I think is necessary in that venue. The London one probably topped it as a show, but Brighton felt a bit more raw somehow. But yes, Spirit of St Louis would have been good!
I know what you mean about being...
