Have you got back on your bike? I've been badly injured by a speeding car and spent 52 days in hospital with four neck and shoulder fractures. I was thinking how dangerous the junction when I got squashed.

Done. One hour 20 minutes to thread (little wire and nut) the hub gears back on and the wheel back on. Derailleur and it would take five minutes tops.

How does a Continental Contact II 700c Commuting Tyre compare to a Schwalbe Marathon for puncture resistance please? Is it good enough? NB: Previous Schwalbe Marathon sidewall split. Normally, Schwalbe are really the biz. No punctures for 5000 miles good.

Cycling uphill and texting at the same time I was thinking getting one of these ebikes. Don''t know which one? Anyone got a Kalthoff with an Impulse II motor ? (these are £600 cheaper, is there a catch?) Got a Cyclamatic but it broke down and nobody will fix it. What are the arrangements...

Mud everywhere These really bright lights can be a flipping nuisance to cyclist coming in the opposite direction, I found out yesterday. I've got a Cree power light (cheap) and they have to be pointed right down if mounted on the handlebars. Not needed if there are street lights. Very good and...

Useful if you forget your lock and can be kept in your pocket as an emergency. http://www.tredz.co.uk/.Abus-1385-Combination-Chain-Lock_35922.htm?sku=85616&utm_source=Google&utm_medium=AdwordsProductAds&utm_campaign=Adwords&gclid=CNL5uqGOysoCFRSeGwodEDICsA# shortlisted.

Video failed to load. Tangent: what portable chain locks do cyclists recommend? D-locks will not always fasten to racks, gates, metal barriers etc.

I used to get a puncture once a week (more when wet) 50% thorns 50% metal slivers. Then I paid £26 each for a Schwalbe Marathon Tyre and no puncture for 2 years back, 3 + years front. Tyres wear twice or more as good as well. I replace the inner tube nowadays, although I don't get punctures...

Not a patch on the Cree for power (needed on a bumpy surface with potholes and no street lights). I have both, (bought a secondhand bike with Bikehut lights). Cree do other less poweful torch like lights with a simple bracket, rather than an elastic band (elastic band works better than any other...

They are best value for money. Not so convenient though with the battery pack. Do the business on a moonless country lane. For short trips I use the head lamps from the pound shop. I can leave them on the bike and not worry.

Thanks for the reply. I bought a town bike in Gee-Whizz in Hove which is recommended for secondhand bikes. Got a bike that would do if it was the right size. Current bikes OK for a 12 mile a day runabout: current bike would do that. Top whack £350 for second-hand as good working order as new...

PS: my bike is a bit like Gordon Greer. Always a good runner, but past its sell-by date. It might last out the season, but keeps on needing repairs and does not run like it used to.

Recommended hybrid style bikes to look out for please as my main bike faces a repair bill that makes buying a new bike an option and a good second-hand bike (to look for) a better prospect? It is the dérailleurs that seem to be worn out. Bike is only 20 years old as well. Weighs something like...

Anybody bought a second hand bike on ebay? It seems a bit like football transfers, knowing very well that the price is upped artifically and there is deadline and you are still not quite sure what you are going to get without trying it out? I had two prices (one which I thought was fair value)...

Got a Kryptonite for £20 in the end and a squirt of WD40 got the existing lock working. I had already bought a spare crappier bike for £35 (cost of a good lock) to leave at railway stations an when going to the football.
