I made my Orro bike a bit more Sussex today with the addition of
some Hunt wheels. I’m rather pleased with how it looks now. It rides pretty well too. Sadly the weakest component is the powertrain that sits on the saddle.
It was my first time, so I stuck to the signposted route. I’d uploaded the route to my Garmin beforehand, but it was so well signposted I needn’t have bothered. Might venture beyond that route next time I’m out here.
I cycled round the Isle of Wight yesterday and thought it was an excellent route. Every junction is clearly signposted for the round the island routes, white on blue background or blue on white background, depending on which way round you are going. Apart from a few busy roads, most of it was on...
I went for my first ride on the Orro Venturi today and it rode as well as it looked. It was a lot stiffer and more responsive than my Planet X and despite a slightly more aggressive set up due it having an aero frame, it didn’t feel any less comfortable over the 50 miles I did today.
The Di2...
I suspect that the least aerodynamic bit of my new bike will be me sat on top of it, rather than the disc brake mounts.
I briefly tried the bike out last night and was surprised that the brakes didn’t feel sharp at all, they were actually worse than my rim brakes in the wet. But after some...
I’ve received the shoes and based upon me just walking around the house in them, I can verify that they very much feel like a pair of slippers, and even more slippery on the tiled kitchen floor.
I haven’t tried them to ride in yet, but might just save them for when my new bike arrives.

I’ve just bought a pair at £89 in black, by the time I’d seen them I’d already decided I wanted them, so I justified the purchase by telling myself that it was only £30 more than an absolute bargain, so must still be a bargain!
Has anyone on here bought a bike from ubyk in Sydney Street? If so, what are they like?
I fancy an Orro Venturi in Sussex Blue and they seem to be one of the few stockists of this bike. They also offer interest free credit, which also appeals.
I’ve just had a look myself and I was surprised at how short the entry period for the dragon ride 2019 was and how soon it closes. I’m guessing it’s easier to get on via the 3 or 3 day tour (as that’s what we did for this year - I didn’t do any of the organising myself). The 2 or 3 day tour...
I did the 2 day tour, so a 55 mile ride on the Saturday and I was due to do the Gran Fondo on the Sunday. However, the climb up the Tumble on the Saturday really did my legs in, so when I got to the 2nd feed station on the Sunday, which was about 70 miles in, the prospect of another 70 miles...
I have just got back home from the Dragon Ride in South Wales today. What a stunning ride, beautiful scenery and even good weather too. I might take a while to recover from all that climbing though! Anyone else on here do it, or done it in the past?
I might sign up for that sportive, I love the Goodwood circuit (I go to the revival every year) and it will be a good excuse for this exile to visit Sussex again outside of the football season. I just have to negotiate with my fine lady, seeing as it’s her birthday weekend!
Does anyone have any insight as to whether electronic shifters are worth it? I've got a 2 year old Planet X pro carbon with mechanical Ultegra group set. For some, mainly unknown reason, I think I fancy upgrading to Di2. It looks like I can do that more cheaply by buying a new bike! I have built...
