I've made the first run of week 3 of the couch to 5k. The distances/times seem small compared to what I could do previously, but after the battering my lungs took, and the subsequent sitting and doing nothing for months, they leave me panting. So my first aim for the year is to finish that...
And so it begins again .Out this morning for first run since out of hospital .Lungs seem to have shrunk to the size of walnuts, and I have never been so unfit .Despite that, was good to be out again .
I started with the couch to 5k programme. Was great, and I soon progressed to greater distances. Helpful to have the planning too. Unfortunately, a spell in intensive care with pneumonia has put pay to things for a few months, but I won't hesitate to use the same method when fit to start again.
I've now finished seven weeks of a 0-10k training programme. Having been able to run that distance regularly a couple of years back, a bout of plantar fasciitis, followed by getting out of the habit, ended my jogging antics, but having a read of this thread got me back out there. It's certainly...
