I'm committed to my 5-a-side team tomorrow but planning to knock this on the head and replace with Parkrun from next week. I'm doing the Couch 2 5k which is helping, although I've not really followed it to the letter as done a couple of 5k jog and walks.
My fear as a significantly overweight 58 year old is my run time, at the moment a 5k takes me 44 mins .... yes, I know, but hey I'm doing something about it! :kiss:
You're right on the footwear front.
If I do exhibitions I've previously worn "normal" footwear, since switching to a more supportive trainer / dress shoe I've had less problems. I also have to be careful in the Summer, just wearing a flip flop style shoe has caused me issues so I need to mix...
To be honest it depends on so many elements, the cold has a big impact on pain as does "over doing it", I sometimes attend trade shows and am on my feet all day, after that I can't run for 3-5 days. My mistake was being over protective in the past four years, I should've pushed myself more...
Oh dear, having had my ankle deconstructed due to sepsis five years ago and two ops since I've just got back into running having gained about two stone and aged 58!
Weight is slowly coming off, no major changes to diet other than less alcohol, but my 5k times seem way over the rest of you guys...
