Anyone got any good tips of treating, and then avoiding, blisters? My new runners resulted in a blister on the ball of my foot a good 1.25 inches long. I let it heal but then it happened again (not as bad as it was a shorter run). It's nearly healed again so I'm planning on going out in a...
Thanks. I thought about it for a day, then noticed that the Forerunner 45 had dropped to £115 today so went for that. Thanks for the head up on this line though, much appreciated.
I'm thinking of getting a smartwatch to use when running. I'd like one that works seamlessly with my Strava account but i'm getting a little confused when looking at the market. Does anyone have any recommendations or advice? Ideally one that's under £100, but I could go higher if needed. TIA.
Not fast, NOT FAST? I think you need to reappraise this with reference to what some of us are recording. We are not all Artie's and the like! Have some respect for the slow lard arses of this world:laugh:
I think that on Saturday I had the run that I'd been waiting for. I'd not drunk a drop for 2 weeks prior, it was a lovely, bright cool morning. 8 miles in to my normal Saturday 10 miler and I felt good, very good, so I kept on going. My first ever 15 miler was the result and at a pace that for...
Went out for a run in the cold and pissing rain yesterday morning. Warmed up properly but came to a gate 1.5 miles in, pulled up to open it and 'ping' a sharp shooting pain went all the way through my right calf. Turned around and limped/walked home. The pain stayed throughout the day and i...
Hi all. Having only recently started running (last August) and now up to running reasonable distances (17 miles per week, split 7 miles midweek, 10 at the weekend with the occasional HM) I'm realising that i really do not like running in the heat. Being a fatty part of the issue is thirst so...
I've not really stood on scales for a long time, i just estimate myself to be 10kg overweight by belt size and looking in the mirror alone. I'd say that in the last couple of months, when the distance i'm running has become more respectable, I've definitely lost a little weight judging by those...
to shift that surplus 10kg!
I only started to keep fit whilst not being able to go to the gym when working in the office. As it looks as though office life will never fully return to the way it was, then I'm likely to keep on running. I'm not competitive (unless challenging myself) so now I've...
Sorry, but had to put these up. My last 2 runs, My first ever half marathon distance, followed by a run where I am actually some way under a 10m mile pace!
for someone who only started running last August, and is still carrying around 10kg more than they probably should, I'm quite chuffed!
That's very kind, however I don't think I'm interested in measuring myself against anyone, let alone the worlds best. Rather than find that motivational, I find it to be quite the opposite. The only person i measure myself against is my occasional running partner, a self confessed terribly slow...
Thank you. Either the numbers i returned were goobledygook or I'm so bad it didn't register. Not to worry, I tend to find these things somewhat off-putting. The only person i'm challenging is myself.
Well I achieved my goal of completing the 100km challenge for January and managed to get well over my 10m in a run target as well. Plodders of the running world unite!
really chuffed with this, especially following the christmas period where I slacked off a little. It's my furthest to date (still no speed awards being won here!)
I'm hoping to do my first ever 10 miler before the end of January, plus I've signed up for the Strava 100km January challenge.
Best advice I had was that slowing down gets you a lot further, and shorten your stride on hills. Not good if you are after 'times' but i'm not a racer, just doing it for weight control.
