Good running updates on here today.
I entered the 2022 Brighton Marathon for the umpteenth time last night.
Just hope it goes ahead on the planned date in April.
Well done on the good running from people this weekend.
I did Worthing Half yesterday, and gosh it was windy. Though probably not as windy as it was on Saturday.
Set myself a time to beat of 2:30, and actually managed 2:25, which I was very pleased with. Was thinking that if I hadn't had to...
Would that be Town Moor Parkrun in Newcastle? Did it a couple of years ago when played them in the Championship.
Nice flat course but I think it gets windy.
Nice cafe on the lake for breakfast after. Very close to Wylam Brewery too.
I'll be at Tilgate Parkrun Christmas Morning. Did it last year and really enjoyed. Certainly worth holding back on the booze Xmas Eve to have a more or less clear head.
Did the Mince Pie 10 on Sunday, and yes the wind was biblical. Must be one of the toughest races I've done. One of the...
Yes I'm doing the Brighton 10k Sunday. Don't Brooks sponsor the race anymore.
Looking forward to the race, but gone down with a cold early part of this week, so haven't got out for a run yet. So not sure about time. Was hoping for sub 60mins, but I think 1:05 might be more realistic.
So are any NSC'ers planning a weekend trip for the Old Trafford game on the 25/11 and doing a local Parkrun on the Saturday morning?
I'm staying in the Eccles area, and planning on having a go at Worsley Woods parkrun on that Saturday.
Just wondering if I'll see any Albion fans :)
Well perhaps I'm making more of it than I should. I did like the sachets they had a few years ago. Thinking about it, I was wearing a waist belt that holds a bottle, so could have made use of that, as I've done in the past.
Brighton and Hove always looks amazing on marathon day, with the crowds...
How did people feel about the problems with the water stations? I guess these things happen, but can't see how a race that wants to be number 2 to London can mess up so badly on such a hot day.
Otherwise, an challenging and tough race. Was determined to keep my pace as slow as possible. I think...
Brooks have just put this on facebook.
Hi - with regard to yesterday's non-race, we appreciate (and indeed share) the frustration felt by many people. We are currently trying to find the best way forward for everybody and hope to be able to furnish a bit more information on this later in the...
Did a very enjoyable Newcastle Parkrun on Saturday morning, before the big game.
Quite a flatish course, so finished 2 minutes faster than my normal Tilgate time.
Met 1 Albion couple who were doing the run too. Run director said there were a "number" of Sussex runners :)
Staying the tonight in Sheffield , so hoping to get along to one of the local Parkruns in the morning.
Sheffield Hallam looks the best bet. There is a Hillsborough parkrun ,but I'm told that's a bit brutal, hill wise.
The article says the bottles were looted just after the first runners went through, but photo of the runners is clearly plodders at the back, with loads of empty bottles in the gutter.
Not unusual for the Mail to get it wrong then. Still a bit unnecessary though.
Well, good to give back, experience the event in another way. I have run Brighton 4 times now.
Though its an early start (0700), a long day, and going to be on my feet for most of it. Not a lot different then :)
Good luck to everyone taking part in the Brighton Marathon in a couple of weeks. Hope the training has gone well.
Not running this year, but I've signed up to be a volunteer. Went to the first briefing evening last Tuesday. Still not sure what I will be doing, but I'm sure it will be a...
1:09 for me today, which wasn't that good for me, but I enjoyed the race anyway.
Good to hear the legendary John Lees doing the PA at the start/finish. I'm sure I heard a "Get on with it"! from him at the start :)
