After 8 long years, I finally got my sixth star in Tokyo on Sunday to finish up the majors.
I'm not part of any running club, so this thread has been a fantastic source of info from when I started running in 2016.
I've been struggling with achilles tenonitis since London last year, and this...
Definitely get carbons for faster workouts and race day. - It might be a placebo effect, but I think the alpha/vapor fly give me 10 minutes on a marathon, and recovery doesn't feel as bad. They're stupidly expensive, but you can sometimes pick them up in the sales.
I've only used the Endorphin...
Thanks @Badger
Maybe I'm being harsh. I just didn't think it was a patch on London or NYC in terms of the atmosphere and felt both Boston and Chicago also had better crowds.
I imagine if I was a more serious runner it would rank higher as it's so flat and fast. It was interesting to see how...
A couple of table updates for me if possible.
Marathon: 03:11:14
Half Marathon: 1:29:59 (just sneaked a sub 1.30)
My new marathon PB was in Berlin on Sunday and my 5th star. I've just signed up to Tokyo in March and then I'll hopefully be done with the majors. It's been 8 years in the making...
Is anyone doing Boston this year? It's nice to see it back in its usual spot of April and excited for the buzz in the city.
I ran some of the route a few weeks ago when people were doing their last long run! - Heartbreak hill felt just as bad.
It reminded me of 2021 when the self-proclaimed...
Anyone in for a major this autumn?
I'm signed up for Berlin so keeping my fingers crossed, but I still can't get my head around countries allowing international travelers even by Sep / Oct. I have a feeling outside elites, they'll go ahead without international runners...
Definitely not after a job, and amazing effort for all your work on this. I just got really excited about the format and was playing fantasy football with the NSC running table.
I was however using PB's, but also being quite conservative on the pro-rated time (really just splitting 5km time in...
Winning team right here with my predicted times :)
Artie Fufkin: 16:55 = (8 mins)
Blue & White: 17:05 = (8 mins)
Ninja Elephant: 17:49 = (8.30 mins)
Big Nuts: 18:25 = (9 mins)
Combined: 10 mins
= 43.30
Vaporfly's: - 2 mins
Winning time: 41.30 mins
This looks so so good!
What's the course like, hilly etc? How has NSC faired in the past time-wise? - I looked at 2019 results and looked like the winner was 42:22, trying to work out how that compares to a parkrun. Assuming you have 4 x sub 19 / 20 min park run runners, you'd be up there? -...
Anyone had knee issues from a fall or impact?
I managed to run into a metal bench that was in a lane at the running track whilst looking at my phone and got a pretty bad hit on edge of the metal.
Got an x-ray and all was fine so rested it for a couple of weeks and took anti-inflammatory...
I'll take a look a the 36's if they allow me to run that speed with a hangover! - I reckon you'd hit sub 7 per mile in the vaporfly. I think you need to do that challenge!
Wow! amazing rotation and like the mix of brands :) also thanks for the Saucony tip! Have you tried the Saucony Endorphin Professional? curious how they compare.
I might give the Nike Pegasus Turbo a go.
Loving my new Saucony Endorphin speed (got the recommendation whilst lurking on here) really comfortable.
I'm now using:
Long slower run > Brooks Ghost 12
Tempo > Saucony Endorphin Speed
Speed / trying to PB > Nike Alphafly % (limiting use as I felt a bit sick about the purchase price)...
