I'd (almost) bet the vaporfly next will take at least 15-20 mins off the average 3-4 hour time .They're amazing and very addictive. One thing to consider is that I've had massive lower back strain after using them. So I get the speed and then suffer big time vs something more neutral.

Thanks so much. I just purchased the Garmin 235 and got myself set-up on strava. Excited to track and get a bit of structure!

Thanks Guiness Boy! Actually a good question, especially now I'm trying to do Toyko which seems impossible in terms of entry. Bit of a lesson here on the ballot, and also not appreciating how big it is to get in on the ballot. Boston (2016) - I basically got lucky and managed to get an...

I'm an avid follower of the official running thread, even more so since I started running marathons a few years ago. I really enjoy reading everyone's progress and pick up some great tips. I just finished the Chicago Marathon (and had an air stewardess put her hand on my chest so Mo Farah...

I’ve often come to this thread for advice when I’ve left training too late or l just need great advice! With those times, on the day stuff / weather permitting, I think you’ll go well under a sub 4 hours. I’d personally pick a plan, and jump to the current week to give you more structure. You...

Thanks Badger! Tokyo sounds amazing, I tried for 2019 on the charity entry, but think I messed up the application - Based on that feedback, I'll keep Tokyo last and maybe do the charity tour route for entry. I'm in for Chicago & Berlin next year on the ballot and hoping one comes off...

Just completed the NYC, and managed a PB of 3.34, I trained terribly and a lot more hills than expected with the bridges, but absolutely perfect weather. I've now completed 3 of the majors, Boston (2016) and London (2018) and got me thinking about how they compare! I think I'm split on NYC &...

Has anyone completed the Tokyo marathon? - enjoy it? I'm trying to do the charity route this year but it's a bit confusing. Also, I stupidly paid 200 odd quid for a pair Nike vaporfly 4% and they quick, but not worth the cash! - the foam started to come out after my first few runs. - Don't do it!

I had a mate fly into town the weekend of one of my long runs for the Boston marathon a few years ago. I ended up binning it and drinking all weekend and regretted it a bit afterwards, but I'm sure missing one long wrong is fine. I wonder if the boozing is worse? Actually on that topic, I...

I got some amazing advice on here before, and view this award winning thread daily! Following my debut Boston half (with no training) I'm going to be running the Boston Marathon in 3 weeks (my first) but have tried to keep to a good training schedule. How different is the 26 vs 20 miles...

So I somehow managed to finish the Boston Half Marathon in 01:37:16. It really wasn't my plan, I joined the 9.00 pace group and planned to run faster over the first half and then slow down on the second part which is really hilly (Elevation to 150ft, between mile 7-13) I got a bit caught up...

Thanks @gbt dazzer6666 really appreciate the help. I think completely underestimated how far it is and am already pretty sore today so will slow it right down and walk on the hills. Hopefully it will inspire me to train properly for another one in the future if I'm still alive. Thanks again

Advice required if possible. I managed to buy a bib from a colleague at work for a half marathon on Sunday. It was only a few weeks ago and other than a 5m run I haven't done any training and run once a week max. I managed a 10m run on pretty flat surface tonight in 1.18 but it killed my legs...
