From the perspective of someone involved in running a mid sized, long standing charity in the City, the idea of having to administer, manage and report on 18 year olds being forced to spend time "volunteering" with us fills me with horror. We can barely afford the staff needed to deliver our...
Our holiday run to Cornwall in the 60s was from Harrow in North London. Dad drove a small van and we travelled overnight to avoid the jams. Brother and me were asleep on a mattress in the back but, as there were no 24 hour petrol stations back then, we slept next to jerry cans of petrol 😬
It was a condition of planning that a large housing development in Burgess Hill had premises allocated for a doctors surgery. After a few years when no practice was willing to take it on the planning permission was revised to more flats. The issues are with national policy not local planners.
As I've said before, boundary changes plus the national swing against the stories means it's no longer a stronghold. A strong chance Mid Sussex will be a Tory loss.
EG and Uckfield a much safer bet now for the Tories. I did the local election count a year ago and she and her team spent most of the time watching the Tory vote pile up in those wards while they lost control of everything else. Shortly afterwards she announced she was choosing the new seat...
I'm staggered at the level of support that Labour are claiming to have in Mid Sussex - at the last DC elections they polled 7% - but if true a very good chance the anti Tory vote will split and allow the appalling Kristy Adams in.
There is a particularly lunatic FB group in Burgess Hill which was originally set up to save a mini roundabout (I kid you not) but which has morphed into a generally right wing / pro conspiracy cess pit in which local councillors are threatened (two have had to resign and the police are...
Labour and Lib Dem’s neck and neck with the Tories in the new Mid Sussex constituency according to some polls. Certainly won’t be a walkover for the Tories but a good chance the anti Tory vote will split the opposition and allow the shocking Kristy Adams in.
Pisa is a lovely little city. We were there 5 years ago at this time before heading to Florence on the train. Take a walk around the city walls in Pisa for great views of the tower. In Florence we loved the central food market, great lunch spot.
PCC and town council by election here. I'm expecting the Tory candidate to win the town council election given how well the local Tories have whipped up feeling about an increase in car park charges imposed by the Lib Dem District Council.
Presumably he can point to evidence of a corresponding decrease in asylum seekers arriving in the UK - or alternatively he is talking nonsense as usual.
I would drop my part time community bus service driving job instantly if this were to happen. Very counter productive as these sorts of jobs won't appeal to younger people.
Hadn’t spotted that. Extraordinary! The electorate of Hertfordshire should be encouraged to visit Burgess Hill town centre to see the Ash Edwards legacy.
