Does anybody know if meter readers (British Gas) are supposed to ask (or are qualified to) "check appliances"?
I only ask as my elderly mum had her meter read, by prior arrangement, and he was a bona fide British Gas official, but there were some concerning aspects to his visit.

I've been utterly fascinated by the complete lack of common sense (and knowledge of the most basic science), on a public Facebook group, 'NASA Apollo Moon Landing Hoax'.
A friend suggested that I have a little look and join...which I did. The delusions and denials are fantastic, so may I...
...would anyone have believed how well we controlled the vast majority of that match, despite 'only' winning 4 -2 ?
Outstanding performances from all of them. (Except Steel...for @Mustafa II 's benefit).
We really are a gutsy team, and capable of the unthinkable when we gel.
Fabulous way to...
Now, I appreciate that the 'modern' window cleaner has various costs to cover, but it seems like a licence to print money.
I binned-off 'Divine Shine' for upping their price from £12 to £15 for a job that literally took them 2 minutes, and have used them for several years - ONE 3-part sash...
It seems so recent (yet a lifetime ago), when myself and friends sat around an old TV and watched the Berlin wall coming down. It seemed to be the start of a new era for everyone, the end of the Cold War, blah..blah blah...
The Chilean miners being rescued and being avidly watched, round the...
There seems to be a hell of a lot of online Will writing services - are they any good/legally recognised?
The fees seems to range from 'free' (with an optional charitable donation) to around £59, which seems ridiculously cheap when compared to the price a solicitor charges.
We (myself and o/h)...
Can't fault you, to a man, this season, so do what is necessary to make history for us.
It's clear that some of you won't be here next year, but that's fine, too. You have brought us to where we are...on the brink of a whole new era....and we (as a whole) thank you for that.
50 years, I've given...
As you may have read on a previous post, my wonderful BHA supporting dad ( for 70 + years), suffered a stroke, over a week ago.
He's not the man he was, at all, and my poor mum can't cope with him coming home (she has her own serious health issues), so it looks like the hospital want him 'gone'...
...happens during the remaining matches, I can say that for me, personally, this has been the most amazing season. To think that we even have a sniff of Champions League, still strikes me as the stuff of fancy, yet here were are, banging loudly on the door.
Fine, we may well not 'quite' achieve...
Well, is it? I think it could well be, as the title is still up for grabs, it's still open as to who joins Norwich and Watford in the Championship and we're deeply involved in a mid-table melee, which could potentially see us finish anywhere between 8th (fabulous!) and 14th (grim).
What a...
No, not those, but fans who seem to take pleasure in knocking us, as a team.
It's delightful to see them silenced (or at least muted) when we put together a display of utter brilliance as we did today. It's not the first time we've excelled ourselves - usually for little or no reward - and it...
Anyone else off to see this lot at the Dome, tomorrow? Saw them pre-Covid at the Roundhouse and at the Albert Hall last Saturday. Fabulous band playing early Pink Floyd stuff and includes a terrific version of Echoes, on this tour.
The fun they're having on stage is infectious, and the...
