Possibly a controversial opinion, but Lord Pascal has not been at his best for the last couple of months, so I don't actually think this omission is at all outrageous.
I don't either really. But the nominees are all big clubs with a token nod to poor little Bournemouth and their amazing manager.

It is when Van Dijk is included. Don’t get me wrong I rate him but this has not been a good season from him, he’s had a pretty terrible one and there are loads of defenders who have performed better than him.

The young player award is a bit mad as well, How young is young exactly? Given half those players are 23/24 and been around for ages by now, it seems a bit mad not to give it to breakthrough youngsters really.

It’s just a popularity contest, the big club players the media like the most.

There is always one token non top 6 nomination. Last season it was Marco Silva at 10th placed Fulham. Season before that it was even more bizarre that they picked 12th placed Crystal Palace manager Patrick Vieira.

I was going to make a joke about my vote going to saka. Turns out he's actually on the young players list. For about the 6th year in a row!

It really should be for a breakout player not established internationals.

I'd vote for Palmer for that reason. Or mainoo if palmer was considered already established.

Speaking to my Spurs supporting gardeners yesterday (I was wearing my Brighton Europa T in the garden so it started a conversation about the Albion) - after them waxing lyrical about RDZ, and me about Biss, who did they mention? Not Mitoma, Pedro, Pervis or any other ‘high profile’ player but Gross. They said he was one of the most underrated rated players in the Premier League and probably our best player. When I said he had won both PPOTS and FPOTS they seemed genuinely chuffed for him. The whole team has been off point for several months, Gross included, so probably unsurprising he was on the PL shortlist notwithstanding the PL agenda to keep the hundreds of thousands of global big 6 supporting plastic fans happy.

I think that’s fair, but he looks exhausted, I know his running style isn’t the most fluid, but at times he looks drained, and the more tired you are the more errors that occur.

He’s still had his moments, but they have been less.

Neither have Watkins or Haaland, and Van Dijk was poor for a lot of it

I wouldn't have said he warranted being in the shortlist given our season and his last couple of months. Gross does always fly under the radar that much is true.

The far more glaring omission is Rodri.
Absolutely. One of the worlds best midfielders. He’s a wonderful player.
